The King James Bible - 400 Years and Going Strong!
Join us as we take a two part look at the King James Bible, which just celebrated its 400th Anniversary. We'll explore what led to its development, and its influence on literature and religion.
Held in the Memorial Room (church basement) at 9 am on Sunday mornings, January 29 and February 12. (The Sunday in between, February 5, is the Bishop's visitation and the Adult Forum that day will offer a chance to hear from our bishop, and ask him questions).

The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson will be with us for the 8 am and 10 am services on Sunday, February 5. He will also be sharing reflections as he heads into his final year as our bishop, and taking questions you might have, at an Adult Forum at 9 am in the Memorial Room.

Movie Night - February 4 at 7 pm.

Our parish is pleased to be able to offer a showing of "Love Free or Die" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23. The movie follows our Bishop, Gene Robinson, and the struggle for inclusion of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgendered people in the church. Part of the film was shot right here at Christ Church, and you might spot people who sit next to you in church up on the screen (or even yourself!).

The movie will be shown in the Memorial Room (church basement), at 7 pm on Saturday, February 4. Popcorn will be provided.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - Pulpit Exchange

January 22 is the Sunday in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. To celebrate locally, 7 churches will be taking part in a pulpit exchange.

Here at Christ Church we'll be welcoming The Rev. Martell Spagnolo from the Conway Village Congregational Church (the Brown Church) as our preacher at all three services. There will be Eucharist at 8 am and 6:30 pm (when our rector can be with us as well), with Morning Prayer at 10 am. Our rector will be preaching at the Center Conway United Methodist Church at 9:30 and at the Conway United Methodist Church at 11 am.

All of the participating clergy who are able to attend the 6:30 pm service will gather with our rector around the altar as we celebrate our unity in the Lord and break bread together.

Health Ministries Expand

Carol Case, our Parish Nurse, continues to do a Blood Pressure Clinic each month at 9:00 on the third Sunday of the month. She is also available to help parishioners with their medical or prescription questions, with sorting through insurance or Medicaid questions, and for general medical support and advice. She does NOT do any invasive or hands on nursing, but is a great resource for this parish.

Another member of the Health Ministries team, Gerrie Beck has just completed an extensive course on nutrition, and is available to answer nutrition questions that parishioners might have. You can check with her at church or email her at gerriebeck1948@gmail.com

New Website Additions

In the links on the left hand side of this page, you'll find two new items.

First is a link to Prayer Beads, made by a parishioner here at Christ Church. There is an order form you can print out and mail in with a check (or hand in if you're a local). If the beads need to be shipped, please be sure to add in the $2 to cover shipping.

Second is a link to an online catalogue of the Christ Church library. This is JUST BEGINNING! It was set up after the donation of four books to our library by Kate and Tom Cash (the four by Greg Mortenson you'll find listed there now). We have also been offered the theology and religious books from the library of a retired priest, the Rev. Lee Wiesner, and those will be listed when they come in. Just click on the link and you can browse our library from home!

All books are available for loan. The library is in the side chapel in the Education Center. Check it out!
